Leisure Leaders for Lindängen Youth Center

Are you passionate about working with children and youth? Do you want to engage young people on their own terms and build long-term relationships that make a difference? The youth center is more than just a place for activities – it is a place where young people receive support, are seen, and heard. We are now looking for 2 dedicated leisure leaders for Lindängen Youth Center.

Responsibilities

As a leisure leader, you create safe, inclusive, and inspiring youth center activities where children and youth can develop, feel a sense of community, and influence their leisure time. With a coaching approach, you support and inspire young people to be creative, take initiative, and grow, while being a professional role model and a safe boundary setter.

You meet the needs of young people – both those they express themselves and those you identify as a leisure leader – and adapt the activities to enable both planned and spontaneous activities where young people's participation and influence are in focus. The work is carried out in close collaboration with schools, guardians, police, social services, and other local actors. You also collaborate with other youth centers and meeting places around events and holiday activities, where together you create safe and positive environments for children and youth.

Your base is at the youth center, with activities that also extend into the local area to meet and build relationships with young people where they are. You participate in all tasks at the workplace, including planning, implementation, and follow-up. Some ongoing administration and documentation are included.

With us, you will have a great deal of freedom and mandate to develop a growing and future-oriented activity together with colleagues – a place where all young people should feel welcome and part of a community.

As a leisure leader, you work with children and youth during their leisure time. This means that your schedule includes regular day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a leisure leader degree from a folk high school or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group (youth aged 12–18 years)
  • Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

Meritorious qualifications include:

  • Experience in area-based work
  • Documented knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and youth participation
  • Experience in low-arousal work
  • Has been engaged voluntarily in some activity or association

Personal Competencies:

As a person, you are social, secure, stable, and responsible with a good ability to collaborate and build relationships. You are flexible and can easily adapt to changes while maintaining focus and calm even in challenging situations. You are creative and innovative, see opportunities, and contribute ideas that develop the activity.

You have a high degree of personal maturity, are attentive, and show respect in your interactions with both youth and colleagues. With your relationship-building and solution-oriented abilities, you contribute to a positive and safe environment. You work independently with a holistic view and understanding of the activity's goals while enjoying working in a team.

Do you recognize yourself? Then you might be just the person we are looking for. Here we create the future of youth center activities – together!
